Our monthly events allow you to discover your artistic abilities, have some fun with clay and maybe determine if you’re interested in taking some classes.

    Whether you are a hobbyist, a student or an experienced potter or simply have fingers itching to play with clay, our doors are open to you for a fun afternoon in Open Studio.

    Ages 8+. Under 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

    Fee includes clay, glazes, firing and use of studio.

    What's Included:

    • Access to our large studio equipped with pottery wheels and hand building tables.
    • Your choice of theme project, free building or wheel (subject to availability)
    • Guidance from an experienced Guild member.
    • Clay to make up to 2 or 3 small pieces.
    • Your work fired with the glaze of your choice.

    Cancellation Policy:

    • Fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another session but can be transferred for the same day to a family or friend if you are not able to attend. Participant needs to bring the copy of payment confirmation to be admitted.
    • There are no make-up options for unattended classes.

    Age Requirement:

    • Participants age 14 and older can register for Open Studio independently without parental supervision.
    • Only paid participants are allowed in the studio during Open Studio.
    • Participants age 8-14 years old must be accompanied by a paid participant who is 18 years or older and available to supervise the youth.

    When can I pick up my work?

    • All work is first bisque fired, glazed and fired again. This process takes 4-6 weeks. Pieces will generally be ready for pickup at the next Open Studio session the following month.
    • You will be notified by the Open Studio Team when your work will be available for pickup – Generally 1 month later, at the next Open Studio session.
    • Participants must be subscribed to our Guild's mailing list in order to receive pickup notifications.

    What can I do during Open Studio?

    • Participants will be provided with enough clay to make up to 2-3 small pieces.
    • Samples and ideas are provided. Leaders will review your plan to make sure you can make the item(s) successfully within the time provided.
    • Participants age 10 and above can use the wheel if there is a Studio Lead available to instruct.
    • All pieces must be finished in the session. At the end of the session you will be able to choose your glaze.
    • Any unused clay remains the property of the Guild and cannot be taken home.

    How will my work be finished?

    • Finished work will be bisqued (fired in the kiln) and then dipped in glaze and fired a second time. The finished work will be coated with a food safe glaze (dishwasher and microwave safe).

    Will my piece shrink when it is fired?

    • Clay shrinks in the firing and will be approximately 15% smaller when it is complete.
